Hello there! I’m Stacy, owner of Blooms & Balloons.

What started as a creative experiment during my maternity leave quickly became an in-demand service that I really was not expecting.

While on maternity leave with my older daughter, I thought about starting a business that would allow me the flexible freedom I so desired to be available for her, and for any future children I might have. Serendipitously, I discovered the art of paper flowers and balloon décor as used for events, and let’s just say it was ‘love at first sight!’ I was mesmerized and as I started to practice the craft, I loved the creative outlet that it gave me. Actually, it was quite a self-discovery because I had never considered myself as a creative person. In fact, you might be surprised to know that I had studied and earned a diploma in accounting back in my native country, Guyana, months before I immigrated to Canada! I transitioned from a field so structured and systematic to an art so fluid and creative!

However, when I found out that I was pregnant with my second daughter, towards the end of my first maternity leave, I put the business idea on the shelf, but I could never completely get it out of my mind. As inspired moments would have it, as Mother’s Day 2020 approached, I thought about creating bouquets of fresh florals as an adorable little treat for all the moms out there who had been going through a tough time. Earning profits was not even on my mind though. I just felt compelled to do it! Well, the response was overwhelming and my love for fresh florals “bloomed” 🙂 Right after Mother’s Day, numerous people reached out to me requesting florals for other occasions. And so I made the leap, took my business idea off the shelf and officially started ‘Blooms & Balloons,’ a one-stop shop for unique and custom florals, balloons and gifts. When not creating and customizing florals, balloons and gifts, I can be found hanging out with my daughters, cooking and baking with them, listening to the Hillsong music band, or relaxing with a hot cup of tea and a good book.
